What is a VRATA?

We often get asked, “What is a Vrata”? Well in addition to being a highly trained and talented team of fun loving hair stylists and creative individuals in Regina Saskatchewan, it is also a ritual, it is defined in Sanskrit and many indo-european languages as a vow or promise. In some Hindu scriptures Vrata are used to assist the person doing the vrata to achieve and fulfill his or her desires, as performing vratas are supposed to bring the divine grace and blessing which allows one to accomplish their dreams.

What’s so special about VRATA (the salon)?

Well VRATA Hair Design was started in 2007 by Chandelle Hay. Frustrated and tired of moving from one uninspiring salon to another, she created VRATA; a place where creativity and inspiration could flow for stylists passionate about designing, creating and competing in the hair industry.

Chandelle who started out here in Regina over 13 years ago, has worked and trained all over North America. Receiving the majority of her training in Calgary and Los Angeles, she has competed and won provincial competitions as well as spent years as a platform artist and educator for the Sebastian as well as Sexy Hair Concepts. She was invited in 2005 to compete in a televised hair competition, and is gaining international recognition as an up and coming salon owner.
